Become Involved! ![]()
Can you devote 2 Tuesday’s a month? That’s all you need to become involved in the St. Patricia SPRED program. We are a group of volunteers that help the physically and mentally challenged ‘Friends’ of our parish to grow closer and understand the loving, healing hand of God. Unsure if SPRED is the right ministry for you? Feel free to contact the Parish Chairperson for more details or an appointment to attend one of our sessions.

Here is some information about the SPRED program, you may also visit the official SPRED website at www.spred.org
SPRED is a program of religious education designed to meet the spiritual needs of persons with developmental disabilities. Through the experience of friendship in one-to-one relationships, our friends with mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, severe epilepsy, and learning problems discover a place where they belong and can enjoy meaningful relationships which help them realize their own giftedness and dignity. Through participation in a SPRED community of faith, our friends are better able to celebrate the sacraments and enter into the worshipping experiences of the church.
Each SPRED community chooses to focus on a particular age grouping. They fall into the following categories: 6-10 year old children; 11-16 year old teens; 17-21 year old young people; and adults 22 years and older. Through a collaboration of neighboring parishes, a person can continue in SPRED from 6 years old throughout his/her adulthood without leaving a geographic area. St. Patricia Parish is currently host to two groups for ages 22 and older.
