REQUIREMENTS FOR VOLUNTEERING WITH CHILDREN

GARDEN CLUB

Established in the spring of 1999, St. Patricia Garden Club is the parish's newest ministry. Their efforts have brought about the transformation of the front of the church, the designing and building of the memorial plaza, the establishment of the bird sanctuary as an Eagle Scout project, and the planting of many perennial and annual gardens around the Church, School, Parish Center, Convent, and Rectory.

The newest project is a large wildflower garden with borders of trees in the northwest corner of the church property. This year students at St. Patricia School will learn basic horticulture by growing plants for this year’s garden under the instruction of Club members.

All who have participated in our ministry agree that making our church a beautiful and welcoming sight is not only a gardening experience but one that also generates tremendous spiritual rewards, a sense of inner peace and harmony with God’s world.

Everyone is welcomed to participate, no experience necessary. You learn on the job from members with many decades of experience.

This is the time of the year that our daylight hours shrink each day, the temperature begins to sink and the green of summer begins to molt into fall colors. However, there are some changing colors of fall that we can still enjoy, thanks to the talented work of the St. Patricia Parish Garden Club.

Vic Baluskas, an active member of the St. Patricia Garden Club has again erected a homemade Green House located just north of the church.  Shortly, members of the Garden Club will be working with students and our science teachers to experience a hands-on botany class.
